George Gilbert graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1961 where he was awarded the Guthrie Book Prize for Portraiture. He was elected a professional member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1973. His first solo exhibition was in Glasgow in 1967 and his most recent in the Courtyard Gallery in Crail, Fife. Over the years he has participated in many joint and group shows and has paintings in private and corporate collections in United Kingdom, Europe, U.S.A., Japan, Nigeria, and Hong Kong.
