 
Alexander Robb
Alexander Robb was born in Kirkwall, Orkney, in 1950. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1968 to 1972. After graduating, he taught art in Stirling from 1974 to 1978 before moving to Dumfriesshire, where he worked as a Primary School Art Specialist. In 1989, he reduced his teaching to part-time to devote more time to painting, and in 2007 he left teaching altogether to focus fully on his artistic practice.
Alexander is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Scottish Academy (R.S.A.), the Royal Glasgow Institute (R.G.I.), and Visual Arts Scotland (V.A.S.), where he has been a professional member since 1994. He is also a professional member of the Paisley Art Institute (P.A.I.), joining in 2003.
His work has been shown in numerous other exhibitions, including those held by the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (R.S.W.), the Society of Scottish Artists (S.S.A.), the Morrison Portrait Competition, the Laing Landscape Competition, the Paisley Drawing Competition, and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries in London.
Alexander has held several solo exhibitions at venues such as the McGill Duncan Gallery (Castle Douglas), the Ottersburn Gallery (Dumfries), Gracefield Arts Centre (Dumfries), Designs Gallery (Castle Douglas), the High Street Gallery (Kirkcudbright), the Gatehouse Gallery (Glasgow), and the Randolph Gallery (Edinburgh).
He has also participated in joint exhibitions at the Gatehouse Gallery (Glasgow), the Courtyard Gallery (Crail), and the Clachanmore Gallery (Stranraer).
