Carina Prigmore
Growing up in Sweden, Carina Prigmore's paintings are strongly influenced by her Scandinavian roots but it’s the dramatic Scottish landscapes that inspire her to paint. She spend a lot of time walking and being in nature, and her paintings are often based on memories or feelings of a place. With the use of layering techniques and some bold mark making she aims to create atmosphere and mood in her work. Although the Scottish weather can be challenging, it’s the ever-changing elements that create the mood that is essential for her paintings. Living in the Cairngorms National Park and being surrounded by the wild landscape makes painting here a very natural process and allows for a very immediate response when she goes into the studio. She hopes this shows in what she creates and that the viewer will connect emotionally and really feel the place.
