Gregory Moore
Gregory Moore studied Fine Art at Belfast Art College in the early 1980s, where he was first introduced to the process and discipline of printmaking. After pursuing a career in graphic design and teaching, he rediscovered his passion for print over thirty years later, enrolling in a refresher etching course at Glasgow Print Studio — where he soon became a member.
Gregory’s etchings incorporate a range of traditional techniques, including hard and soft ground, aquatint, sugar lift, and spit biting. Through these methods, he seeks to create works that convey mood, atmosphere, and a strong sense of place. His inspiration is drawn largely from the landscape, its character, and the wildlife that inhabits it.
His achievements include winning the Roy Wood Prize for Excellence in Printmaking at the Royal Scottish Academy Exhibition (Edinburgh, 2017) and the Derwent Prize at the Paisley Art Institute (2018). That same year, he was featured in solo and group exhibitions at the Glasgow Print Studio, including Glasgow in Print, and had one of his works selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London — where his entire edition sold out.
Gregory’s prints are regularly exhibited in galleries and at print fairs throughout the UK.
