Astrid Leeson
Based in Dundee, Astrid Leeson graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD) in 2009 with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, followed by an MFA in Art and Humanities (Distinction) in 2017.
Astrid was selected for New Contemporaries (2010) and, more recently, took part in a curated exhibition at Gallery 201 in Kyoto, Japan (2023). She has continued to exhibit in a range of group shows across Scotland, with work selected for the Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI), the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA), and the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA). In 2024, she held a solo exhibition at the Scottish Arts Club, awarded as part of a national competition. Her paintings are represented in several galleries and private collections in both Scotland and the United States.
Astrid’s creative practice also extends into community engagement, where her projects have inspired people of all ages to connect with heritage, explore contemporary culture, and imagine future possibilities. She is a Director of Creative Catalyst Scotland, an organisation that supports young people pursuing creative careers. She is a passionate advocate for the belief that creativity enriches every aspect of life.
