The work is essentially narrative,on the cusp with illustration, but also allows the form of the work to build to the overarching concept.
“My influences are particularly from the late mediaeval -early renaissance painters, especially the Flemish artists, who worked under commission, but retained a huge individuality in their vision.
My own work centres very often on birds, which have been a lifelong thrill, often ‘making the day’ by their presence.
I mostly work in acrylic, with gesso and gold leaf on panel, but enjoy etching, and sculptural elements also. This diversity seemed to give my tutors at college grief, but I enjoy the diversity ,and find it very stimulating!”
